    Default Lynn is the greatest

So Im relatively new to this form of shaving. Ive bought 2 razors brand new - A Dovo and a TI Stamina. And have been pretty scared to try and hone them myself.

I could tell they were not as sharp as they should be - shaving I could feel it pull a little, and it wouldnt be all that easy to shave against the grain.

So I knew i had to get them honed, but I didnt want to just send them out. so This Sunday I gave Lynn a call and drove out to his beautiful house.

After showing me all of his prized razors (there are so many!) we talked for a few and we sat down at his kitchen table to hone my new razors up.

He showed me his techniques, and his beautiful belgian stone (droool) and he put an edge on them that looked oh so pretty underneath his microscope. I cant wait to wake up tomorrow and shave!

Then, proving the great guy that he is, he GAVE me 5 razors to practice honing with. And even showed me how to repolish varnished blades and sat me down and let me hone one!

What a great day, what a great guy! I can't thank ya enough.

I just got done honing a few of these. I wish i had a microscope so i could look at the edge But everything makes so much more sense after watching him for a just a few minutes. I had watched a few videos on honing, and mostly they scared me ! But i feel much more comfortable now, and cannot wait to get into it some more.

By the way, I think my favorite razor is that Abalone Shell Damascus Steel blade. I know that Damascus steel must take forever to hone, but it must hold an edge for years! (I did some reading on the different types of steel awhile back, there's a rumour going around back in the day, the damascus steel was sought after to make swords for wars, even passages talking about the strength being so unmatched, the damascus would split lesser steel in two in battle.)

Anyways, i cant thank you enough. An awesome learning experience, and an awesome introduction into a truly addicting hobby and pastime!

Double Dittos on that for me. I've been out to Lynn's place twice now and He gave me a set of razors to practice honing on also, In addition to some really nice cigar boxes that we made juggling props out of. I'm taking a break from honing some of the razors right now
