    Default Cr-ox on newsprint

I have benn using cromium oxide on a large pad of newsprint scetch paper from Strathmore insted of a strop and for me this has worked out great, I just use the Crox like a crayon on the pad then place it on a table with the paste side on the edge and so far great results. its lft and the sheets underneth gives abit of cusion, after the paste I stop abit on the un-pasted paper it being like news paper without ink, before I goto my excellent KenRup El Toro. anyone else use this?

yes. It's a very consistent, light drawing substrate that makes for very consistently sharp edges. And when it comes time to repaste you just throw the old sheet away and lay down a new one. Very convenient.

Sounds like a great plan, what weight is the paper? I have a lot of sketch pads and want to give it a try

The paper is 30lbs, my edges are very keen and smooth after using this I didn't come up with this obviously, its some where on the SRP posts IMO its alot better than a strop for stability and if you dont have a balsa strop.

Hmmm, seems to be a few things overlapping here. You are stropping on ChromeOx, on newsprint paper, in a paper pad. Is that right? I will try this so I want to get it right.

I've used PostIt paper on glass, so maybe I should try stropping right on the PostIt pad with either a little ChromOx or Diamond Spray applied to the surface.

This what I did/do after putting paste on a strop and getting poor results from my lack of control, I read allot of SRP post and found the stroping on newspaper thread, so I took my cr-ox stick purchased from SRD and since I had huge drawing pad of newsprint weight paper 34 lbs(not a newspaper) and I used the cr-ox like a crayon along the length on one side, much like my son does on the walls.. the reason I have the huge sketch pad but I have better control so I end up with a foot and half of paste with blank paper on each end as I leave a bit without, not crazy thick just kinda like the wiki article on pasting a strop. the pad it self is called newsprint various lbs to be had out there, but too thin might not give the support and rip or not cushion it, mine is also a rough type not smooth but try what ever you find. what I like is to lay it on the table with plenty of blank sheets underneath I hang up the sheet Im using on the wall when not in use and lay it on the pad dont really want my 2 year old licking and handeling it, and just give my razor about 10-15 passes as a sweet finnish after a 12k nani . Sorry if I was confusing
