Dave you should stop on coticule not to move Nakayama . Edge you got and shave with is Nakayama's edge.
Try stop on coticule and shave to see what is a differences between 2 stones.
I have a coticule which will provide similar edge but it is 1 in 1000 case.

Actually I did shave straight off the coticule with one of the razors I honed with it. It was wonderful and everything you could've wanted from a coticule. To be honest, I still prefer the edges I've gotten when I end on my Nakayama, but to be fair I've more experience with that stone.

But I have gotten fantastic edges off just this coticule, the one I mentioned I just finished on the Nakayama. So you can totally get by with just the coticule for all of your honing, I just have grown accustomed to using my Nakayama at the end. Plus I have a beautiful Japanese stone, I want to use it!

I have two BBW/Coti combos and they do the majority of my honing. I have a translucent arkansas and I'm glad I've got it, but still, I love the coti!

BBW does some good stuff with knife edges as well. All my EDCs have BBW finished edges.
