Hone care question
I have a set of Norton 220/1K and 4K/8K. I've used them once and lapped them before use with the flattening stone that came with them. My question is, should I lap them before each use? Thanks in advance.

Its not necessary to lap before each hone session, but I do recommend cleaning/rinsing the swarf from the stone between razors.
It is easier to fool people than to convince them they have been fooled. Twain

You could but with the Nortons you probably don't need to unless you're doing a heap of razors. I think I've read Lynn say between 5 or 6 razors before he laps ? I find that honing in front of the sink I will run the plate on them from time to time during the honing session to remove swarf but IME Nortons stay flat between honing sessions. Some of the synthetic hones with a polymer resin binder tend to move a bit all by their lonesome and may need to be lapped before use.
Edit; Kelly beat me to the enter key..... great minds think alike.Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Norton is headache stone. you need to light touch after every time you use it. i don't like metal particles accumulates on surface of it and it just doesn't cut how it should .
Mostly will depend how you like them to use. if dark metal particles doesn't bother you then you should be ok . go head use without cleaning after every razor.GL
