Default ARE THESE HONES ANY GOOD?

Just picked up these 2 hones off e bay for $26. I'm a newbie and want to learn how to hone, so I picked up these to learn with. Do you know if these are fine, medium or coarse hones? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks. How'd I do, did I get a deal or not?

well the first one is a de hone it appears so unless its got a flat side not really usable for a sr
the other one is a barber hone used for tuch up on a razoor that has lost a bit of sharpness the course side is if it needs a bit more but not a complete rework as i have come to understand it

last one i would think would be classefyed as medium and fine medium (no problem shaving off although someone prefer finer ones)

Your carbie looks like a coarse/med to me, and as stated, the first one will only work on straights if the back is flat.

If you are just starting to learn, you really should start with tried and true hones of known grit in order to remove the hones as a variable from the equation. You can learn on non-standard or natural hones, but it just makes it more difficult. But my first hone's were the pocket sized spyderco med and fine followed by a BBW/coti, so who am I to talk...
