Touch up honing
After a good honing that makes the blade pass the hanging hair test is it sufficient to give it 20 or so passes on the green pasted paddle strop to bring back the edge?

IME normal stropping on an unpasted hanging strop linen/leather should be sufficient. If the edge feels like it needs it maybe 20 or so on chrom ox and test shave.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanks Jimmy! That's kind of what I thought. Anybody else with another thought?

Thanked: 4942I would only say to try around 10 strokes first and then strop on leather and see what you have.

I hone on a norton 4/8K and shave right off that, shaves should be comfortable and smooth at that level, the pasted strop is just going to make the edge more comfortable with a slight (Very slight) sharpness improvement that I find not necessary. For touch ups I just go 10 laps on a swaty or if needed a conservative pyramid on the norton. My coticules and such just sit there unused.

Thanked: 127I found that the use of crox before stropping is no longer necessary. I use my hard balsa strop with crox only as a refresher for my razor between honings.
If you do need to use the crox before stropping though, Lynn gives a great recommendation of no more than 10 laps. This stuff is very agressive without any feedback.
Enjoy!
