I hate to revive an old thread, but i was just wondering how these were determined to be W&Bs? I can see the photo above is titled "wade-butcher-7-8" and JimmyHAD refers to his as a W&B too. I just picked up a straight that looks identical to these, with no markings that i have seen (maybe i'll take a microscope). i need to look for some faint imprints.. Do these have have print on the other sides?

Thanked: 13245Both of those pics are of the back side of the razor so you are not seeing the tang stamp...
If you post up a pic on the razor in question some of us can give a good guess from just profile, won't be accurate of course but some of the guys are really good on here....

unfortunately no... the seller stated there was very faint markings of a + on the tang, but i don't see it.. but i didn't take a microscope..

Thanked: 13245You can't ever say "For Sure" but The cross he talks about could be a few different brands, is looks to be a Sheffield and it has the classic W&B lines, possibly a Greaves or Reynolds... but without a makers mark it is near impossible to know... Hone it shave it and enjoy it
