Thanked: 2591I do not see any reason for using hot water on any stone.
Regular cold water from the tap works just fine.Stefan

Cold water for me, it just feels better, heavier, more dense. I'll even run the tap for a minute or two to clear out the pipes and warm water.
OT, but especially useful when gathering water to boil pasta. I fill the pot one, two, three, and four times before putting it on the stove. Old New York buildings.

Thanked: 235You don't know how lucky you are to be able to just turn on the tap and have hot water. But I guess when a freezing cold night is about 22c (72F) hot water is over rated. I would never bother to boil the kettle for lapping stones. The cold water out of the tap comes out at about room temperature anyway.
