What kind of hone are you using? If it's a Norton 4k/8k, then storing it in water should be fine. Just be sure to change the water every once in a while or else it'll get slimy.

I store most of the ones I use fairly regularly on a heavy duty shelf in the open air.

They are a part of the family to be sure. The one on the bottom is my 8x3 olive green natural combo. Like glass. I hate to say it, I don't use it that much even though it's a superb polisher since I favor narrow hones.

I stack mine similar to how Chris does, except it's not as eye-popping a collection.

Since it is just me and my cat I keep mine in the kitchen cabinets. He doesn't mind as he never goes in there. I have kept my 1k and 4k single grit Nortons in water and can vouch for the slime if you don't change the water. I don't use them often enough to justify keeping them that way at present. BTW, on the single grit the 8k doesn't need the soak. Just a splash.

Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Those photo's made me laugh on their last outing too!
What can a man use that many pipe cleaners for though, Jimmy?

Nice pics, Jimmy, but… I have to see one of your cat (please). We have five and two have taken to watching me shave on a regular basis. They're into it, are yours?
