Best Norton Waterstones Set
After bidding on Norton Waterstones on ebay and getting outbid (who keeps bidding higher?) I did a search and found this website Norton Waterstones - Peachtree Woodworking Supply
2 8"x3"x1" stones: 220/1000 and 4000/8000
1 Flattening Stone
Cases for all the Stones
Plus FREE: Waterstone Tray and Sharpening DVD
All for ONLY $119.99 --- Are You Kidding Me!!!
Scroll Down and they sell all the components separately.
The 4000/8000 sells for $89.99 itself.
What A Deal!
I just ordered.
Anyone have any previous dealing with this company and website?
(Hopefully they won't be junky stones)

That is a pretty good deal..... I just was at the local Woodcraft store yesterday and those two stones with the cases were about $112 total plus tax. Guess you got a flattening stone for $7......

Thanked: 96It's a nice starter set and most people recommend Nortons for a first set here. Though I'm told the lapper wears out quite quickly.
Personally I don't see the need to drop $80 on an 8k stone, so I looked for alternatives to Norton. I'm willing to gamble though. I wound up with:
DMT XC ($40)
DMT F/EF($65)
ICEBEAR 4k ($25) (equivalent in grit to norton 8k)
I do find myself wanting something along the lines of a norton 4k/shapton 2.5k and am having trouble finding it cheaper than the norton though. The japanese stones all seem to jump from 1.2k to 4k. I may have found a 2k somewhere but I'll have to dig it up again.
If you want a sure thing without having to dig around for what you want exactly, that set is definately the way to go. Enjoy.
