As I understand it when this would no longer can bring an edge back to shaving statis then it would be time to have the bevel re-cut, correct?
If it was me I would continue with the unpasted linen and leather strop pre shave for as long as it shaves well. If the edge started to fall off in keenness a little I would go to the pasted strop to bring it back. If it still needed some more the 12k and once that wasn't getting it I would think about honing on coarser stones or sending it out.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I use the TOS on my Wackers and other microchip-prone razors, followed by my Maruka Nakayama Asagi. This is actually one of the relatively few situations where I distinctly prefer the Nakayama over the Shapton 30k.

    JimmyHAD,
Your input is always clear and concise. Thank you for the time that that takes. At this point I am only interested in keeping a good shaving edge, and plan to send out my razors when they reach the point of no return.

I have needed to put quite a bit of stropping into my new Wacker including the use of my pasted strops. Yesterday I completed my first shave with my quarter hollow Wacker and while it is very sharp I feel it could be better.

I've experienced some microchipping problems on my 1/4 hollow wacker which took a while to get worked out. I'm not sure what hones were used.

I use a coticule to touch her up, so far so good.

One thing I do notice is it stays sharp for a loooonnnngggg time. Maybe this is the tradeoff between harder vs. softer steels.

It was a pain in the butt there for a bit, but I have to say it is my favorite shaving razor...
