    Default Discolored Norton 8k

My norton 8k has after a short few weeks become discolored. It has darker yellow lines running lengthwise along the lighter yellow surface. I know a pic would be better but I don't have access to a camera right now.

Does anyone know what this might be caused by? Is it a problem. There is no discernible difference in the feel of the stroke on the hone.

Have you tried lapping the hone? Does that make any difference? How does the color change with water (I see you don't have camera access, but wet/dry photos or even descriptions may help).

My Norton 8K had darker yellow lines/areas, I lapped them away, as the darker yellow lines/areas seemed to be harder than the light yellow areas. They seemed to be deep into the hone as it took a lot of lapping to get them out.

I don't know if the performance was affected by the discoloring, and I don't know what caused the discoloring in the first place, what I do know is that my hone had been stored dry in it's blue plastic container for about 9 months as I've been using another setup for a while, and I'm sure the discoloring wasn't there when the hone was set aside.
