When I buy rs pocket microscope and look at honed blade what am I looking for do I look at both sides of blade? what do I do if blade looks this way .....or if blade looks that way?thx charlie wannabe honemeister!

Thanked: 2209You look for a UNIFORMLY shiney bevel that extends all the way to the edge. You do not want to see two colors on the bevel nor any bright spots or brown color along the edge. The roughness/smoothness should be the same along the entire length of the edge. The bevel, ideally, would be of the same width for the length of the blade. Examine both sides of the blade.
Someplace here there are pics of a properly honed edge.
Anyone know where they are?

Yeah i just noticed they don't work, must be cos of new design.
Do a search for bevel pics, as randydance said, you want it to be all the same shine under the light and pretty much the same width.Last edited by GhostRida; 04-25-2009 at 10:56 AM.
