Thread: Hone progression question

I have a Standard Barbers hone that I've been using as my finish hone. Recently I picked up a hone while antiqueing that according to some guesstimates is a Thuringen stone, and I'm wondering where that fits in to my hone progression. Is this about the same grit as my barbers hone, or finer? I haven't lapped the thuringen yet to be able to play with it but I'm hoping it's an upgrade from barbers hone and will be able to give me an even more refined edge.

Try and ye shall learn. Take a shave ready razor for some strokes on one hone, shave. Then do some strokes on the other hone and shave. See how they feel, and go from there.
