    Default honing basics

I've seen references to a pyramid, but can't find threads which describe it other than 3/6/25 hut, or some such. What do these numbers mean.

How many strokes on a 4000/8000 for a razor just in need of a tune-up?

Pyramid honing method means alternating the Norton 4000 and 8000 (coarser and finer) side for given number of strokes until razor is sharp. The first nuber indicates number of strokes done on the 4000 side, the second on the 8000. so 1/5 means 1 stroke on the 4000, and 5 on the 8000.

The Lynn-aproved refreshig of razor just beggining to pull is couple of 1/3 strokes. For stainless steel add couple of more strokes on the 8000 side. Lately I am refreshing my razors just on the 8000 side, for 10 or more strokes, untill I get the right "feel"...
