Default Now where do I go?

Got a legacy razor today: http://straightrazorpalace.com/razor...eat-shape.html

I had to hone out a bevel-sized chip in the razor and ran from 220 grit through 8k naniwa followed with a few laps on the crox strop and then up to the Premium I.

    TPT: pass
HHT: not quite, more like whittles instead of a clean cut
    Treetop test: bigtime pass
    Arm test: pass
    Shave test: fail

I feel like I'm sooo close, but no cigar on the shave test. So the question is...what hone should I go back to? 3k 8k crox?

Without having a finishing stone, I would go back to the 8K and work with 5 stroke increments followed by 10 strokes on the chromium oxide and see if you can't get it to where you want it.

You're killing me Lynn! You mean I have to go through the pain of having to convince the SWMBO that she needs to see another entry on our credit card statement from SRD? I'm in, just gotta butter up the wifey.

Seriously, though, thanks for the help.

You should be able to get a good shave off an 8k, especially with chrome ox after. If you can't, a finisher won't help you.

A couple dozen ultra-light strokes on the 8k and a bit of crox on the 'ole strop and whammo...worked just fine!
