Thanked: 0Progressive honing grit
I remember seeing a chart somewhere a while back that gave some breakdown for relative grit sizes between different types of hones. I think it would be helpful to develop some kind of master chart (if one doesn't already exist)for comparing grit size by either the Norton style of numbering or maybe just depth of cut in Micron's (since this obviously differs from grit size Ex: 15 micron garnets making average 2 micron cuts from yellow belgian). I'd rather not buy every kind of hone on the market due to the obvious expense involved. There is just so much difference between one companies fine and another companies fine, and there are so many kinds of barber hones to choose from, it would be nice to know more of the pro's and cons of each honing material.
