help me not screw this up
Bought this Boker "Unrivalled" cheap today
Five minutes with some flitz and a little piece of #2000 sandpaper got me to this;
and revealed this pretty spinework
I'm not going to go too far polishing this, I want to hone it... please note the hone wear out near the toe. The bevel fades to almost nothing at the heel. Any honing suggestions?Don't get hung up on hanging hairs.

Thanked: 2591Nice work on polishing the blade.
Whether you use tape or not, do the marker test first to see which stroke will make full contact with the stone.
What stones do you have in your progression?How much experience with honing do you have?Stefan

well I got bored
I set bevels with a king #1000, work out the uglies with a ice bear #6000, polish with a "chinese 12k".
I got tired of sitting around, went to work with a bunch of circles and 45deg x-strokes; working back and forth between 1000 and 6000
Hone wear seems to be evening out pretty well. I'd be working on the polisher now if it weren't for a couple tiny nicks right in the middle of the blade.
Anyway my back got tired so I quit a while.Don't get hung up on hanging hairs.

The marker testis a proven winner when you are unsure of the bevel or the stroke. Have fun and it looks like a nice keeper!
