Thanked: 0Super Polishing Stones vs. Diamond Paste
I've been reading about the Naniwa Super polishing stone (10,000 grit). From everything I'ver read it a really great product. Here the big question, is there any practical difference (apart from feel and personal preference) between using a super polishing stone (>10,000 grit) and using diamond paste for final polishing.

I think there are two...one polishing componds are 50k-100k (and varied other options) grit and two 10-12K stones are unique in there difficulty to use. Either will produce a nice shaving edge depending on your abilities. I would suggest either, I would probably prefer the stone assuming costs were not a factor. Its not so much personal preference as results...you can imagine using either without results would be pretty frustrating, either way the both have a learning curve. The pastes less the stone more...usually the cost of high quality stones is a factor in the decision. I would think with patience either would suit you nicely.

Would you say the Spyderco Ultra Fine ceramic, followed by SiC abrasive (2.8 micron), followed by green chrome, followed by stropping is a good sequence for honing your razor? That's what I'm using now, but I'm always looking for a better way.

I think so, "green chrome" being .5 chromium oxide? But this isn't my area of expertise so I would wait for one of the other guys who are into this sorta thing answer. I literally run around the house with my finger out and just feel stuff and go yea....that'll work now.

I find that I'm able to have greater success with the pastes. The stones are really agressive at high grits and my edge can be completely worn away by them.
