    Default Nagura on naniwa?

A little help guys...these have been answered before but I cant find in forums. So anyway. Should I use a Nagura stone on a Naniwa 12000 to create a slurry before I start to hone? Should I lap the nainiwa before I use?

I wouldn't use a nagura on a synthetic stone (or any hone, really) for finishing. The synthetic hone particles don't break down like a natural Japanese hone, and they'll not give you a finer edge...they'll take the edge off.

It surely doesn't hurt to lap before you use, and often helps a lot.

    +1 on JimR's comments.

Nagura no. Lap yes. Then just a good spritzing with water and your ready to hone.

Welcome to SRP. I agree with the previous posters. Check out the SRP Wiki here for the beginner's guide and for many tutorials on all things pertaining to straight razors including many on honing.
