    Thanks everyone for the input. Now I have an idea what someone means when speaking of the "thumb test". I don't think I personally would use it though. So far, I use the hair test which works for me. It's funny, when I first was able to cut a hanging hair it made a slight "ting" noise. Now as I am getting even better edges, the hair cuts easier and without the "ting" noise. Of course, the hair must cut at numerous points along the edge which can be vexing and elusive.
