I cannot make it either but I would love to attend for the honing clinic but most of all to shake the hand of the man who makes such superb razors. Robert is a great guy and I've spoken with him on the phone many times but never had the pleasure of meeting him in person. Hope all that can attend have a great time.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Well, too bad that no one from SRP made it, but we had a nice small crowd last night. Met some nice folks, ate some good food, and lots of great conversation. It was good to see Robert again, and of course I took the opportunity to stockpile some of my favorite IK soap.

After the clinic, Robert asked me if I learned anything new. I thought about that after honing a couple of razors this morning.

Microscope = Robert brought a big-a** stereo microscope last night. I have seen micrographs online, but it was nice to correlate what you have done at a particular grit, what the TPT feels like, and what it looks like, all in real time. I have a dinky RS microscope in my box, but this one was just real nice.

    Barber Hones
    - I have a couple of Swaty's but never really put them to good use. I saw some YouTube videos sometime ago, but watching how Robert polished up with a Swaty inspired me to dig them out of the box this morning. Took a couple of TI's whose edges were beginning to be lackluster, and worked them on the Swaty with excellent results! I think I will be using barber hones more.

Naniwa Superstones - never tried them before. Really nice.

Here are some photos on B&B

Anyway, it was a very informative, entertaining evening. Thanks, RW.

P.S. I think a Restoration Clinic will be in the works next.

Ray, I would have really enjoyed the opportunity to meet both you and Robert, and pick up honing tips. Alas, a long way to travel, and my wife is in the hospital.
Sometimes life sucks, this diversion would have been most welcome.
If you are ever in the Nashville area, let me know. My door is always open, not only to you, but to other SRP members as will.

Thanks, John. I am sorry to hear that. I hope you and your wife are ok, and that she has a speedy recovery.
