    Default Quick question

After you have honed a razor good enough to shave with, and say 3 to 5 months later it becomes dull, do you have to start all over as far as setting the bevel and then doing the pyramid method?

what do you mean by dull?
if it's just not shaving anymore like it was on the first day you can just do a touch up on a pasted strop or a finishing stone

    hope it helps you?

You'd touch the razor up once it starts to pull, or not remove hair, or if you have to use more pressure than normal to get a good shave.

A touch up would entail 10 swipes on a high grit stone such as a Naniwa 12k, Shapton 16k, a barber hone or a high grit natural. Then you'd strop and test shave. If that didnt bring the edge back you might drop down to your 8k, do 10 strokes, then 10 on the 12k and then retest and so on. Start with the high grit stone and only drop down if you need to.

You'd only need to set a new bevel if the razor was totally dull and wouldnt shave anything, or if the edge had a chip in it or something.

    Hope that helps!
