    Default uneven bevel set??

I put a layer off tape on a dduck to set the bevel on a 1k nani, after some circles and x strokes,i looked at the bevel through my radio shack scope and had a nice even bevel on the left side of the blade, but the right side of the blade had a nice bevel at the toe for about 1" then the bevel got very thin and then the last 3/4" towards the heel it got nice again. The razor has no hone wear to speak of and was close to unused. So i removed the layer of tape and cont. to hone on 1k to get that section of blade a sizeable bevel. After some time and rechecking with the scope it got alittle wider but did not MATCH the whole lenght of the right side of the blade,so i stopped so i would not creat any more spine wear and ran it through the 5k 8k 12k crox ceox then linnen leather and shaved real fine. So my question is why was i having trouble getting an even bevel on just one side of this razor?? Has this ever happened to you guys? DO YOU SMELL WHAT IAM COOKING. thanks

In a perfect world all bevels would be symmetrical and even but that ain't the way it is. Not necessarily symmetrical and even from one side to the other or on one side end to end. Not anything to worry about IME.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

    agree 100% what Jimmy said.
Don't worry about the perfect bevel. as long as you have cutting edge that is all matter.

That kind of thing used to drive me nuts, I just had to have the symmetry.

As long as it shaves well, I think it's just aesthetic. This always hangs me up though because it looks wrong from the get-go, so I'm afraid to move up the progression. In the end I just worry about the edge and I wind up being OK.
