Default Finish Honing on a Belgian

This is more for Lynn as he is the honing guru. Do you use any special technique when doing your final honing on the Yellow Coticule or is it just a few light passes like on the Norton or do you pyramid between the 8K Norton and the Yellow Coticule.

Same long full length stroke or something different?

    Thanks,
    Tony

I've switched over to the yellow exclusively. I don't wait until my razors get real dull mostly I just use the yellow maybe 30 passes brings the razors back up to snuff.

When I finish this phase of the grand experiment though I'll have to start with either the norton 8K or the blue belgian and then move up to the yellow. I rarely go back and forth between stones. The only time I need to do that is on Eboy specials and then its just experiment with different combinations of strokes unil I get it right.

lynn's father is very ill and he's intransit to him so Ill speak for him...lynn uses codicle to finish hone...if not sharp enough he may make another 5 passes on 8k then 15-20 on codicle try the razor again if still not sharp do it again...If razor starts loosing sharpness after repeated use he will do the above to refresh rather than do a full hone...we talked about this same subject several days ago...just coincidental I guess...
