    Default OPINIONS WANTED

Would like some opinions on the smoothnes of this blade.

It came off buffing wheels totally dull. Bevel set on 220 grit sandpaper and 800 king hone, then 4k/8k norton, chinese 12k with .05 diamond spray, green Crox on balsa, red paste balsa, then stropping.

Should this blade be smoother than it looks in ya'll's opinion. By the way it does shave well

the looks does not mean anything if it is smooth when shaving its good.
Now are those microchips on the edge on the upper side of the edge?

I look at the scope for bevel formation only. I really don't give a rat's butt what the polish of the bevel looks like under the scope. That being said, you don't have a straight edge yet. There appears to be a slight deviation in the middle of the view and possibly the microchips already mentioned. You might get a better edge if you went a little farther with the bevel setting.

Or, it really might not matter at all. I prefer to have a fully straight microscopic edge but I'm not certain that it affects the longevity or quality of the edge.

If you can tell us what magnification pictures has been taken that will help a little too.
what we see on the bevel is not important.
Fact is blade shaves great that is all matter.
Chips what we see is depend on mag too. in large magnification unnoticeable(while you shave) chip will look like huge one.
    hope this helps.

Sham asked the obvious question that I failed to even consider.

Given that is the level of magnification, in my opinion that slight deviation is entirely irrelevant.

Besides, the fact that is shaves well is all that matters. We don't hone for pretty microscope pictures. We hone to create great shaving edges and you did that.

    Thank you my friend.
Your picture tells us nothing . Trust me. what we are seen is smaller then head of pen.
Now i would love to hear anyone prove me i am wrong.
I think above 60-100 is the max what you can learn from the magnification.
    more then that just hurts.
    hope this helps.

WOOPS yeah i thought that edge could be improved a little more, but that was based on 60-80 mag
pictures aint the best way to review an edge(espesially when we dont know what were looking at)lol
