I just picked up an Escher on the bay for $330 (with shipping from Australia)... Of course, I haven't received it yet, so I can't say what color it is firsthand.

I paid around $600 for a Y/G a few months back, well worth it in my opinion.
And I do feel it refines the edge a bit coming off the 12K Naniwa. Not much, mind you, Just a tad. Sort of smoothes and sharpen at once, if that ,akes any sense.

Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years....

I've got several Eschers but I've always wanted a Y/G. Given current prices I figure my only chance is to luck upon one in an antique shop.

Escher finish is one of the smoothest I have experienced, right up there with Nakayama. I have never finished on 12k SS, but my guess is yes it will be smoother.

I would say that it feels like it does for me.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

i just tryed 12k naniwa after coticule and i have to say the 12k did make a differance. i was very impressed how just 20 laps made the edge that bit sharper and yet still very smooth. i need to add escher and see what happens i will post my out come.
