I'm considering "making" a portable norton 4/8k. I've got this well used stone that I'm working up the courage to flatten out the 4k side on. With the amount I may have to travel for work this summer I think it would behoove me to have something along the ride for sharpening, etc.

I'm thinkin of slicing off about 1/3 of the 3x8 4/8 k with either a band saw or a backwards blade on a table saw. I need a portable size.

I've already got a sealed rubberized poly box to put it in and put the water in. I've also made a nylon strap set to put around the box to ensure the seal doesn't break.

Sound Like I'm on the right track or just stupid? Any suggestions?
