Ch12k arm hair shaving test
I use my CH12k after a BBW, and I found that the arm hair shaving test becomes weird. After the BBW, the razor pops the hairs, and they jump away from their original place. But after i use the CH12k, it cuts the hair, but no jumping, it simply stays there where it was. The only difference is, that now the hair is cut off my arm Is this normal?

Thanked: 1262how does it shave?
My thinking is that off the bbw, the hair is catching and then popping. off your ch12k it is being cut cleaner.
i dunno. I only play a honemeister on tv.
In my sleep deprived brain bbw to ch12k seems like a bit of a jump, but then again i remember reading about people shaving off their bbw stones.

Thanked: 121From what I understand, the "pop and jump" indicates a lesser stage of sharpness than does the "clean cut." So I don't see anything unusual here.

I don't think there are any hard and fast rules to what "popping" arm hairs vs. "gently cutting" arm hairs will mean. There are a lot of variables involved, so even if someone came up with a rule I'm not sure I'd follow it.
That being said, I have to ask the same question as Slartibart: How does it shave?
That's the real test that you should use at the last stage to determine if you're there or not. Depending on the quality of the results of your shave test, you might be able to extrapolate some answer as to the result you got with the AHT.
I'm not sure what your experience with honing is (mine's pretty limited, I might add) but it does take time to "calibrate" the tests used during honing and the AHT is not exempt. As you progress you'll be able to know what that result you got means, and you may be able to discern between different types of "popping" or "gently cutting."
