    Ha, perhaps you're right. Well maybe the feel is from to the bevel/spine wear, but not because of suction but may be due to the increased surface area causing more drag?? I seriously have no idea, so I should probably stop hypothesizing since I have no evidence!

    It's because of the water - cohesion and adhesion are powerful forces, especially when the surfaces are so smooth.

    I would recommend getting an inexpensive razor to use to practice establishing your honing muscle memory and also to experiment with techniques. When I started to learn to hone, someone on this site offered to ship me a Double Arrow razor *for free* on the condition that I ship it at no cost to the next guy that needed to learn to hone (which I did). Anyway, it was nice having a trash razor to practice on without worring about destroying my good blades... (which I've also done, and had to send to Lynn to restore... good news is the past 6 months I've been able to hone my own with complete satisfaction).
