    Default Woodstock 1k/6k grit stone

I purchased this a few months back, and am only just now getting to the point where I am contemplating trying to hone my razor.

Is this enough for a basic hone?

I also have a latigo leather strop, untreated but it has served me well.

Or should I wait until I have a 10k or 12k stone to attempt to make a shave ready blade?

    The stone:

color resembles the 1/6k king stones.
For razors you ned to go higher than 6k to finish the edge .
A very standard set is this:
Amazon.com: Norton Waterstone Starter Kit: 220/1000 grit stone, 4000/8000 grit stone, SiC flattening stone: Home…
many members attest that the 8k stone provides very good shaving edge.

If I were you, Critical, I'd give shaving off the 6k a shot. It may be terrible, or it may work - you'll know as soon as you move the blade over your face. I've been surprised by how nice the shaves were off a number of hones, so I like to try shaving off everything. Heck, I'm tempted to go get a King 6k just to try shaving off it...

I got in the wrong thread again, I though this is about a hone that comes with free sex, pharmaceuticals, and loud music

Now the question is what is the condition of the razor you are attempting to hone. If it was shaving well until recently you're probably better off not using that hone on it.

Hmmm... well, it was honed by a SRP member for me, and then I used it twice a week for about 9 months, with stropping on the latigo strop mentioned in the OP.

But about a year ago it started being uncomfortable, and I had to stop using it and have been shaving with a Fusion ever since.

I want to get back to shaving the way it was MEANT to be. lol

Get some crox or diamond paste after the 6k, and you should be fine. Balsa, leather, felt, it doesn't matter. Choose which one you want to try, or what can you find the easiest, and go for it. Anything of the above should do the job fine.

For touchups, 6k is probably more coarse than you need. I usually try my first touchup with a finisher, 15 or so strokes. If that doesn't work, I'll either try 15 more or drop down to an 8k - depending on how the razor feels after I test shave after the first touchup.

You didn't mention the hone that comes with rain, mud, and the clap. Now that's a 60's memory.
