I am wondering if there is anybody or place that sharpens straight razors in Calgary Alberta. Could somebody please let me know? Thanks

Send a PM to sebell, he's based (mostly) in Calgary and has honed for a few members. In fact Scott, the proprietor of Rasage Poulin, uses his services if I'm not mistaken (Rasage Poulin does not offer honing services, at least not at this time).

    Good luck,

    Ryan

    Hi Fellas

Sebell told me he's too busy to hone for hire, so I have auditioned another local fella who is around the forums and have been pleased with his hones. I gave him two razors to hone, which were both very different (one was historic steel 6/8 Grelot in pretty bad shape and one was carbonsong C135 5/8 in better shape) I am satisfied with the work done and will be accepting razors dropped off with me to be picked up by him, honed and returned to me for pick up.

If you have questions for him directly, you can email him at brian@rasagepoulin.com

If you want to arrange to drop off a razor, email me at scott@rasagepoulin.com

I'm posting this as a PSA only since sebell told me he was too busy to hone for hire. I'm not posting this as an unsolicited advertisement.... I hope this post doesn't violate any TOU.

I had a razor done by Sebell and it was fantastic. I'd surely take Scott's word on a honemeister.

Does anyone have any info on anyone currently offering honing services in the Calgary area? I guess scott ended up closing down.

New to straight shaving and need a proper hone. Thanks in advance!

Edit: I contacted Knifewear here in Calgary, and they offer honing services and a nice selection of straight razor products. I'll report back with the results for any Calgary folks. Cheers..

Try Maxi and Catrentshaving both are in CA and both hone.. The odds are very much stacked against a Knife Shop knowing anything about SR's but if you go ask point blank "Do you shave with a SR everyday" not have you ever, not have you tried once, if they don't then walk away

    That's good advice. Thanks...

@Glen, Knifewear is the only knife place that I might bring my razor to if I didn't want to hone it myself. They have numerous people there that shave with a straight.

@desol, it would be great to hear about your experience with Knifewear but if you want I can hone your razor for you.
