When is a straight worn out
I've done a fair bit of reading through all the great info here, and I have seen a couple of remarks related to wearing out a razor or a worn out razor. However, I haven't come across any criteria for determining when that state occurs. Is there such a thing as a worn out razor? If you keep honing to the ridiculous extreme, you end up with a skinny wedge, right? Well, not quite, but you get the picture. Now, I would think that if the honing was done evenly, the angle would be maintained and the razor would still be fine for shaving. Yes?
I recently honed/ground out a big 1.5mm deep half moon in the edge of one of my 5/8 razors (spine NOT taped). I haven't finished honing it back yet to try and shave with it, so I don't know. Could I have "worn out" my razor? What does that mean?

I guess it's "worn out" when it looks like an ice pick!!! Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Thanked: 1It's worn out when it will no longer give a comfortable shave. Hence Paki razors are worn out before you use them...
