Workin' on it!
I've purchased a bunch of shaving stuff...including hones,
soaps/creams, a few razors, a new strop...all that AD
stuff...but it's all sitting in California, at my folks place,
waiting for my arrival!
I hope to be making the trip Stateside before Thanksgiving.
It's all about money and time. You know how it goes....
Ain't life grand?

Temporary fix
I couldn't leave it alone. I only have 2 razor-dedicated
stones...a Swaty 3-Line and a translucent Arkansas, but
I decided to have a go at removing the pits, ie re-setting
the bevel.
I taped the spine and then honed the razor...I dunno how
many laps on the Swaty, but it has to be over a hundred.
The pits finally disappeared. Then I gave it about 50 laps
on the Arkie.
Then it was 50 laps on the linen strop, and 100 on the
leather, followed by a shave test. OK, but not great.
10 more laps on the Swaty and 20 on the Arkie, followed
by 50 linen, 100 leather. Shave test was good, but not
great.
50 more on the linen + 100 on the leather.
Final final? A decent shave, with no mishaps.
This razor is still going to Glen for a re-hab, but in the
meantime it's at least useable.
Thanks for all the advise!
Cheers,

Thanked: 983You're like me, if it's sitting there and needs to be done, even if it is theoretically out of my league, I've still gotta try.
Good on you for getting it working again. Just think what you'll be capable of when you get your other hones handy.
