Thanked: 522TRY THIS.....
This idea will only interest those who will try it.
Take a BBW or a Yellow Coticule or a Spyderco Ultrafine and mix a fairly thick slurry with .3 micron Super Cerium Oxide and finish your edge. Mix it as thick as Bart mixes his slurries in his honing videos.
After a good stropping, you will have a very nice TPT.
Give it a try --- www.deltaonelapidary.com for .3 CeOxJERRY

Jerry,
Good suggestion
I have just started exploring using the Spyderco Ultrafine as a 'barber hone' and final finisher; I will give the cerium oxide slurry a go !
Have fun !
Best regards
Russ

See if you can find Bart's honing videos somewhere on the forum or on YouTube. The video that impressed me most was the one where he used the BBW and then put a slurry of CrOx on the BBW. I tried the CrOx and it is very messy business.
That is why I tried the CeOx on the BBW, the Coti and several other stones. So far, the best result I have gotten is with .3 micron Super CeOx on the Spyderco. Then 50 on Latigo and 50 on English bridle.
Since 8:00 PM Sunday night I have done 6 blades and they all came out the same way. Beautiful shaving edge. I love it.......!JERRY

Interesting... Are you saying mix a slurry of ONLY cerium oxide?

Thanked: 3795This same method, but using diamond spray, was recently going around. Unfortunately, the results seemed a little to variable but this is certainly another variation worth trying.

ONLY .3 micron CeOx for the slurry. I mix it thick like mud just the same as in Bart's video. We might also try the dilution method with this paste.
Try it on different finishing hones. I haven't tried it on a Nakayama yet but I guess that stone is next. If you find a better way to use the CeOx, please pass it on..............JERRY

Thanked: 522.3 CeOx Update
The latest results on finishing with .3 micron Super CeOx with heavy slurry are as follows:
I finished a Genco EasyAces on a black surgical Arkansas w/slurry until feedback was evident. Then 50/Latigo and 50 ]/English Bridle. Very nice shave.
I finished a Boker Red Injun on a Transluscent Arkansas w/slurry until feedback was evident. Then 50/Latigo and 50/English Bridle.
The Boker removed every trace of whisker stubble whatsoever. Best shave ever. I'm afraid to pinch myself. I might wake up......... My goatee area is like barbed wire and I usually have difficulty there.
Both of these shaves were better than my Shumate on the Spyderco w/slurry. So for now, I will stick with the Arkansas finisher.JERRY
