    Default Newbie all over again

I've been honing my very tiny collection of razors for a couple of years now and, even now, occasionally I feel lost...I have an old Wade Butcher that has served me nicely- I have honed it on my Norton 4k/8k waterstone rather successfully up until this last time...
I've tried at least a 1/2 dozen times and cannot get the razor to give me even a decent shave. The toe and heel ends are sharp enough - but only on one side of the blade- and the center of the blade feels very thin and dull. I take care to lap my stone before any attempt.
Any ideas as to what I may be doing wrong?

Sounds like it may be a warped blade, if one side of the center is sharp but the other is dull. Use a marker to darken the bevel on both sides and then give it a few strokes on the hones and see where there is still marker left on the blade, this will tell you where the hones arent cutting steel.

If this is the case you may have to rock the razor as you hone to make sure the entire edge is being honed.
It is easier to fool people than to convince them they have been fooled. Twain
