    Default Coti/bbw help

Ok so this is a small coti/bbw I think. I have been using it with my Spyderco UF as a slurry making stone because its small. Is their any other way to use this, could it be used for a razor or is it to narrow?

The small hinge boxed Thuringians are almost exactly that size. You definitely can hone with it if you can get the hang of keeping the blade flat even on such a narrow hone.

I hone on a 6" by 1.25" coti all the time. In fact it is one of my favorite sizes and perfect for the dulicot method.

Just try to get the hang of it and it will reward.

A former member named Bart decided to push the limits of what could be done with a coticule. If you do a search for his posts, you will learn about them. Even if you don't choose to use them (I don't) they are extremely informative for anyone interested in coticules.

That's a nice sized stone. It should serve you well if you master it.

Fine size for honing razors, you can hold it in your hand and hone if you like, that's what I do with my coticule.

See how fast it is in slurry and that should tell you how good of a finisher it is. If it's very fast in slurry (can even set a bevel) then the razor won't be that fine on finishing the razor. BBW and slurry can add sharpness to a razor with a bevel set.

    have fun!

I disagree with this assessment. I have 3 very fast cutting coticules that deliver my favorite edges (2 La Petite Blanche and a Les Latneuses). Personal preference thing, I guess

This is exactly how they will act .fast cutting coticule will have larger size garnets compare to others. As a result it will not put final finishing edge to your blade. They will sound similar blade movies inside sand.
There is may be 1 % chance against this.

Luckily for me, my 3 fall in the 1%

Or maybe there's more to the story? Can we please stop debating this? You're experiences have varied from mine and many others. That doesn't make you right and me wrong, or vice a versa. Thanks, my friend!
