    Default getting old bites

Just when I'm getting the hang of consistent edges, I'm forced by shoulder and back pain into learning a new skill -- honing left-handed. My "brain" and my hands are struggling with sort of a mirror effect, that is, my X's want to go backwards. This should wear out a couple of old razors.

Any non-dominant honers out there? Any advice?
Don't get hung up on hanging hairs.

Practice it daily. You literally need to re-wire part of your nervous system to switch sides this way and this is best accomplished with regular repeated activity. Within a couple of weeks you will begin to notice a striking improvement in your left handed honing and shortly after that it should match your right handed honing.

I had issues about a year ago with my shoulder and back which caused me issues. I ended up just pushing through the pain or just doing 10 strokes and the resting for 10 minutes.
