    Default slurry on norton 4k

I have read of several people using a slurry on a norton 4k. I am wondering why they do it. It seams a pain to me. For example if someone has a 4k/8k combination the pyramid would be a real pain as you would be turning the stone over almost constantly.
even though i am nowhere near proficient at honing i have used the norton without the slurry during my short experiance.

Some folks like the slurry on a 4k. It really just makes it cut faster. I don't normally use one, because I like the control of a slightly slower cut. About 10 laps with the razor generally produces all the slurry you need anyway. That being said, I will make a slurry with a Nagura stone if I'm working on a razor that needs a lot of edge work, and I'm trying to remove a lot of metal quickly. There's not a huge difference in speed, but it's there. Just my $.02.
