I would double check at lee valley the grit of the norton hones as I remember they didn't have the grits above 4000k.
If you can wait until the new year I can let you try my nortons 1k, 4k/8k, DMT 1200,
Naniwa 5k, 8k
I also have 3 Coti/BBW, a swaty, spyderco ultra fine, and a Thuringian
You could try out a bunch of different hones and see what you like before buying. If you cant wait until after the holidays you could stop by tomorrow. I have hones if you would like to try them out, as long as you realize I may not be able to answer a lot of questions about honing as I am new to this as well. But I do have Holli4priating's number and he knows a lot. Anyway PM me if you would like to stop by I live in Scarborough.
Edit : Sorry I will not have the DMT and Naniwa until after the holidays they are at my parents house waiting for me to pick them upLast edited by Dllandry; 12-12-2010 at 01:20 AM.

Thanked: 1The one I'm picking up is a Norton 4000/8000. I will double check when I pick it up tommorow. Unfortunantly, the order was already processed; so, unless the hone is the wrong one, I am obligated to stick to what I agreed to when I made the order.
Its nice to have someone nearby, as it seems there is no place in Toronto that deals with traditional shaving supplies. Do you know of a place in Toronto that carries good soaps or creams?

Truefitt & Hill at the Scotia center has a wide selection of creams and soaps the also sell sample packs so you can try a bunch without breaking the bank. The offer stands of you would like to try different hones I will be back in town the 28th
