Thanked: 0Sharpening in NYC???
I just dug out a Dovo that I was given a few years ago and decided it's time to learn to use it. I suspect it's not near sharp enough to use and I don't have any reference of what is sharp enough, so I'd like to send it out to someone to get it shave ready.
Are there any places in NYC or Long Island that can do this well? If not, then where's the best place to send it?
Thanks,
Bernie

I'm from NY too and I think you'll have a hard time finding someone around here who knows how to sharpen a straight razor. Your best bet is to PM Lynn (adjustme69). He's the true honemeister!

ps- I'd offer to do it but I'm still learning myself.

Welcome Bernie
You've come to the right place, and you're correct in thinking that that razor isn't likely ready to shave right out of the box. Richz is one of our moderators and may be able to give you some assistance. He lives in The Apple. PM him. You'll also need a leather strop to make it shave ready on a daily basis. If you haven't got one you should go see The Well Shaved Gentleman. Don't be a stranger, now. We'd love to find out about your progress.
