    Default "GETTING THE GREAT EDGE"

To all the new guys looking around here trying vainly to get there razor to shave decently, just listen to the old pros, not me the mentors- SET A GOOD BEVEL FIRST, most of them have said it over and over again but all of us forget sometimes. I had a Torry That just wouldn't live up to what it could be until I remembered and reset the bevel with just a plain Norton setup1000-8000,and a coticule bout and turned it into a great shaver, buttery smooth and SHARP! These guys know what there talking about, its 90percent in the bevel IMHO
    thanks

Amen! I have only honed a handful of razors but the one time that I figured the bevel was "good enough", not quite shaving arm hair all along the blade but good enough, I was in for alot of frustration. I ended up having to go back to the 1k stone and do the job properly. When I have put in my work on the bevel the rest goes relatively smooth. Put in your work on the bevel or you are just peeing against the wind.
