    Question norton

    do I need to lap a brand new norton ,or is she ready to go

    Mine was quite ready to go although it might be said that I actually lapped it with practice razors. It is a good idea to lap it to remove any irregularities in the surface which might be there fresh from the manufacturer. Try to lap like grit with like grit hone. If you're using sandpaper a glass lapping plate is highly recomended and make sure you use a high quality wet/dry or you'll imbed the low grit in your stone.
