Razor Honing tracking
Here is something I use and though maybe someone else might benefit from having. I have a couple of sheets on a clipboard and am able to track what I have when it was honed and how it was honed.
most of the info is self explanatory.
Razor is the name or brand
Date is date of honing
Tape is yes or no depending on if I used it or not
Bevel set is what I used to set the bevel my only choices are Norton 1K or DMT 1200
Progression 1 is next stone used i.e. Norton 4K or Naniwa 5K or Coti/BBW
Progression 2 Norton 8k or Naniwa 8K or Coti/BBW
Finnish Hone what was my finisher Coti/BBW, Thung, or Spyderco UF, C12K
Crox/Diamond if it was used
Strop how many laps did I do
ST P/F the shave test passed or fail so when testing multiple razors I would know to go back and touch up
Touch up date meaning did I recently freshen the edge
Honed By I have a lot of razors honed by other people for example when I sent some razors to gssixgun he sent a note back informing me of the progression he used so I put that down and I use them now to judge my honing effort.
I hope someone might get use of this I put it in PDF but will send it in word or pages format for to anyone who wants it so changes could be made to it.

Cool idea, thanks! I actually keep a plastic covered water proof honing diary at home that I take out and log when I am honing a razor.

I think databases are a great idea, but like Ben, I'm much too lazy. JoeD has a great one that he wrote the software for; hopefully he'll chime in with some other fields he included.

Thanked: 190Yeah, I got lazy too. When I start restorations projects, I will likely go back to the record keeping.

Thanked: 121I did this the first couple of years. Now I have all my razors on individual 6X2 cards, so when I find the right progression/finisher for a particular blade I won't have to reinvent the wheel next time. Also helps me to keep track of tape on that blade. I have a few problem razors, and the notes tell me at least what hasn't worked up to now so I can try something diferent next time.
