Also I was told ,if you use Naniwas, don't use sandpaper as they are too fine a stone for this and it will mess'em up.

    I just lapped mine ( 8K, 10K & 12K) with 500 & 1000 grit wet/dry sandpaper with no problems.

Gar, conflicting advice... Can I get some more opinions on this please.

Wet dry sandpaper 1000 grit or no?

I have a Arkansas Razor hone, its white, no idea what the grit is, I think its supposed to be used with oil, but its brand new. Can I use that and water to lap my 12K Naniwa? ... it's also a whole lot smaller than my 12k, so that could be problematic.

I would call SRD or ask Gssixgunn.......they are two of the best knowledgeable sources on the subject of Naniwas and honing IMHO.Because the forum can sometimes be a flood of well meaning intent.Glen is a very respected honemaster here and of course SRD not only sells Naniwas but the Founder of SRP Lynn Abrams (one of the very best honemasters)and his partner Don will be able to help you.Hope this clears the air a little for you.

Randydance is also a very respected member here. I would not hesitate to take any advice he has to offer.
