Default What am I doinf wrong? Un even bevel

Im fairly certian this is something im doing. Ive hone a few razors but im still really new. Ive got a cheap 22/1000 (ordering a norton next week) and a norton 4k/8k. I do X strokes and follows lynns pyramid. Some razors I get a good bevel others look either like example one and two. The red is what the bevel looks like.

I have one razor that has the same problem. Hopefully someone will help us both out...

If diagram 1 & 2 are the same razor, you have a warped blade. If these are two distinct razors , you may be applying uneven pressure or your strokes are not straight. Possibly raising the spine somewhere in the stroke. Let me know what you have.

I'm on the iPad so forgive me for being brief. razor 2 is good, razor 1 is not. It's all about pressure. I would suspect you are honing with two hands and using pressure.

Ok now we know more. As AFDavis said, its a matter of pressure. the first has a frown, with out seeing the severity it may be worked out just keep going, using even pressure and straight strokes on whatever you are using at the lower grit. Once you achieve a straight and even bevel, move up your grits without pressure.

On the second its probably the same in reverse, I am not there, so all I can do is give an opinion. I hope these opinions help.

Were the bevels straight before you touched the razors????? what about the spine is the wear even??? or uneven ??? what about from one side to the other is the spine evenly worn or uneven???

Does the actual edge follow those lines or just the bevel wear???

    Can we see pics????

I cant get pictures to come out even remotely visible. I do use 2 hands. The 2nd one (2nd pic) I had no taped spine. After a closer look today I notice the spine now has hone wear opposite of the bevel wear on both sides.

The 1st one - I believe is a micro tome. its smaller than the others. I used a single layer of tape on this one. No spine wear. Upon closer look it does have a slight smile. While boths sides have the same wear(hone) pattern one side is worse than the other.

Bevels on both razors was uniform before I started. Started at 1k stopped at 8k

Maybe im applying to much pressure. Even at light pressure i may not be realizing im doing it.

The one I have like that is those two diagrams on the same razor. One on one side, and the other on the other side. According to a previous post, I have a warped blade. I can get the bevel "set" all except for the toe, which will not seem to get sharp. What would you guys do with this?

    Thanks
