I just bought an R.T.M Hiyodori Japanese razor, sorry about not having a photo, but whenever I try to load up photos, everything goes all wonky, so until I figure that out, no photos. Its a fixed blade Str8 double bevel, when I went to hone it up starting on the Norton 1K I had all kinds of problems getting anything close to were I felt I could move on to the 4K. So after doing circles and heavy and light strokes, I talked my self into taping the blade with one layer of PVC tape, it did make great deal of difference and got it very sharp and the TPT, very sticky, moved on the the 4K then 8K and on to Crox and new paper right to 50 laps on new paper, now, I"ve never heard of the R.T.M before and was wondering if this need to be taped is normal for this razor??? What's the history of the Hiyodori and is it know as a fairly decent shaver?? I won't know until I grow some beard back, had a great BBS this morning with my 5/8'th Dovo, very nice.
