    Hi,

I for one am very happy with the results I get from Tilly's Gem and Lithide barber hones, which are both very small and handy. Another option would be a smaller Coticule, which also gives very good results....

Aside from the hones, did you ever think about taking a two sided paddle strop with one side pasted ? I assume that for travelling you'll start with a shave-ready razor and if you don't travel for months I would think that a pasted strop (plus the other, plain leather side) will keep the razor in good condition for a long time....

    Just my 2 cents,
    -Axel-

    Axel:
That's exactly what my minimum razor travel kit contains. One razor and one of Tony's paddle strops with one side pasted w/1.0 micron paste.

Or better yet, do yourself a favour and get a Shavette...

If I didn't have the Swaty I would carry the Lithide.

Though I'm not a paddle strop kind of guy when it comes to traveling I have a two sided paddle I got from John Crowley and it is just what the doctor ordered for traveling.

Actually I forgot about that one. I have that paddle strop for traveling (from John). Plain leather on one side and .5 micron paste on the other. But I will still take the Swaty with me also.

i don't think the pasted paddle strop thing is right for me. i'd rather carry something dry and simple, like a stone. call it personal preference. in fact, let me just say it here once and for all--i'm not ever going to use a pasted strop (not that i don't appreciated the suggestions). so far, the runner-up seems to be the swaty. is anyone bidding on that one on ebay? 'cause i'd lilke to get it .

also, what is a swaty exactly, and how does it differ from a lithide and a barbe hone?
