Default No where in New Zealand

I'm amazed. I can't find anywhere in the country to hone a straight razor. Not even the country's oldest shave shop which sells them will hone them. Apparently it's too delicate.
Is there someone on this forum that does it in NZ? The closest I can find is Australia & I'm not to sure I can be bothered sending them out of the country.

If you don't want to send it to us, very honest and trust worthy Aussies, and you can't find a Kiwi with the necessary skill, then perhaps I may suggest you buy some hones and do what I did...Become self-reliant. You won't regret it. I never have anyway. Good luck to you what ever track you take, but don't be afraid to send them out for one time around.

    I understand how you feel.
Being Norwegian I felt pretty alone in this wet shaving world when starting out.
I did as MickR said, and started honing pretty much from the get go.
It took me quite a while, and gave a few concerns, but I kept on trying.
I am happy about my decision today!

And you are right, don't send anything to an Aussie, they cannot be trusted at all

Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years....

LOL Nice!! Nah they are all good They have had a hard time lately so I'll cut them some slack.
It's not that I don't trust anyone, it's just that the Razor I'm talking about was my Grand Fathers & it's the only thing I have of his. I would be devastated if it got damaged, lost or stolen while in Transit.
I have an old non brand razor that I've taken apart & am having a go at restoring. I'll learn on that one.

Good plan. Get yourself some hones and some cheap ebay specials and practice. Tackle the familly razor yourself once you have your confidence up.
