Thanked: 62Question about Naniwa Super Stones
I took my brand new set of Naniwa SS's out for the first time this weekend. First I lapped them all up than took a couple of razors to them. I noticed that after honing at each grit level for a short time the razor would start sticking to them. Is this telling me that it is time to move on to the next stone?

Thanked: 2591When the bevel is perfectly flat on the stone and the scratches you get on the bevel from the previous grit are removed the blade will start to stick a bit.

As above, this is good. You can easily lift a flat rough board off a piece of glass. But, only with difficulty could you lift a piece of glass off a piece of glass. The same principle is in operation with your blade and the hone. They are very smooth, with very little air between.
After about 3K, I have increasing trouble determining the state of the blade from purely tactile (TPT primarily) means. And, I depend increasingly on the suction between blade and hone to know when to move to the next hone.
